How does God Define Wealth? Gold? Bitcoin? Cars? Oil wells? No! To God, the equation is clear, one soul is worth more than the entire world. True wealth is a healthy restored relationship with God. A soul is wealthy when it has been reunited with God and has become joint heirs with Christ.
What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? How much wealth can replace 1 Soul?
If we don’t see wealth as God does, we will miss it! We will trade eternal wealth for temporary gain. Are you rich towards God? When we see people wealthy in earthly possessions, are we full of envy or do we consider their eternal state (their stand with God)?
Wealth from God’s standpoint is not man-made currency. Wealth defines the things that money cannot buy; the things that show the futility of money which is a means of exchange. Biblical wealth may be defined as the ability to experience and enjoy God’s ultimate blessing in the form of a growing relationship with Christ Jesus.
While our labor, diligence, planning and wisdom are vital, God remains the sole source of blessing. He is the fountainhead of life, health, food, sun, and all other necessary elements for making living on this side of eternity bearable. As Creator, all of life is His gift. He is the Prime Giver. “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights” (James 1:17).
With the mindset of a steward, and with the understanding that God has a will and is not arbitrary, we must keep in mind the fact that if God places us in charge of material resources (little or much), it’s because He has a purpose for it. We must know that purpose and deploy the resources to His use! No point salivating over money used to send us on errand.
A true and faithful steward must know that the world may call him wealthy, but he can’t call himself wealthy because the resources are not his. True wealth is in the souls of men. Are people connecting God on my account? Am I wealthy by God’s definition?
