There is a quarrel between two men of God. They disagree on their points of view and both of them claim to be led by the Holy Spirit. Which type of Holy Spirit is this, that is telling one person one thing, and other person another thing? Is the Holy Spirit capable of causing confusion? Is He the author of confusion?
What exactly is the basis of these disagreements, these disunities, and this ugly parody of communities of acclaimed believers?
The truth of it may shock you, but having been without the manifestation or power of the Holy Spirit for long, people have ascribed their souls the title of Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is not as present as we claim him to be. He is not the author of confusion, He is like the central nervous system of the body, those who are truly in Christ cannot be orchestrated into disharmony!
The evidence of the Holy Spirit’s presence is not speaking in tongues! It’s being a witness! In the current day faith, people have abandoned the substance and focused on shadows. Tongues are easy to mimic without any substance, easy to perform without the Holy Spirit’s presence. The only evidence that cannot be counterfeited is the boldness to become a witness, and the expression of fiery laced words that cut through to the heart. With people comfortable living outside of God’s mercy and living around believers, even attending our worship centres, it’s a clear signal that the tongue of fire that descended at Pentecost is wanting.
The Holy Spirit is not leading you, not speaking to you, and not having any interactions with you if Christ is not being magnified in your conversations. The work of the Holy Spirit is clear, it’s to make Jesus known, to bring to remembrance the things that Jesus said. That spirit that is regularly giving revelations about how you will prosper materially, or leading you into all sorts of relationships where Christ is not revealed or glorified is not the Holy Spirit.
We have been instructed to test every spirit! Are you doing this?
Audit – Is Jesus the focus of the conversation you have been having with the spirit leading you? The Holy Spirit reveals Christ to us. He brings from what is Christ’s and make known to us. He teaches us all things, and so that we can be sure we are being led by the Holy Spirit, we have a test. The Holy Spirit will never lead me to do what is not in alignment with Christ.
The Holy Spirit gives gifts and helps us to bear fruit. All of these are so that Christ may be manifest in us.
Jesus did all he did by the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was the Holy Spirit in human flesh. All he did we can do also, if we take ourselves out of the picture.
