Key Passage: 2 Corinthians 5, Rev 4: 11, 2 Corinth 2:18-19
Introduction
The answer to life’s most important question: “What on earth am I here for?” is the pursuit of every man born of a woman from creation. However, the answer has eluded many as it is not found in any book as millions have discovered from the illusion of their pursuits.
They say when purpose is not known, abuse is inevitable. Therefore, the Truth about purpose is a bedrock issue and this foundation must be correct for any life to count here and in Eternity.
Paradigm Shift
What is PURPOSE? There can never be a right answer to a wrong question. The truth about Purpose is – He is a person – CHRIST!
Haba! Are you saying Christ is the purpose of marriage, church, parenting, career, my life and so on? YES! YES!! and YES!!! Since we are not our own and we did not choose to be born, then the answer from God the creator is the only authentic answer to the truth about purpose.
Rev 4:11 – “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for Thy PLEASURE, they are and were created.”
Therefore, our life’s purpose is TO GIVE GOD PLEASURE AND TO GLORIFY HIM! Note, this can only be achieved IN Christ. The Template is clear – “This is my Beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, LISTEN TO HIM! “
Application
Once purpose is identified execution is next. Jesus, our Template identified His purpose of glorifying and giving God pleasure as the great work of RECONCILIATION of fallen humanity. This is the very work that God had been doing even before the foundation of the earth was laid.
So when Jesus came in the flesh, He set His face as a flint to fulfilling that work of Reconciliation. The platform for the execution is DISCIPLESHIP. The ultimate end of Discipleship is matured sons who are in turn raising sons to maturity. To be matured is Basic: CHRIST no more no less.
Since we have the same mandate with Jesus, as He declared – “Just as the Father has sent me, so send I YOU”, then we have the same life’s purpose. Christ thus becomes our Purpose as we see ALL life’s ordinary and special everyday activities as Discipleship PLATFORMS.
Our marriage, career, resources (money, talent, etc), living and also the church, all become gainful platforms of Discipleship. Jesus does the saving and the making. Therefore, if I desire to live a Purpose Driven life, then the answer is Christ – To LIVE is Christ!
2 Cor 5:15 – “He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”
The moment he died in our place. Our purpose changed, now we live in His place.
Commitment
Lord I commit to see correctly and dovetail all my life dealings to Christ. It’s not over till it’s over. Age must not be a deterrent.
Prayers
- As we gain understanding and receive the revelation of Christ our Purpose, may we enter into rest and stop chasing shadows.
- May an unprecedented desire be released upon us to fulfill the purpose of our creation -GIVING GOD PLEASURE by giving Christ expression as His representatives in all life’s platforms for Discipleship.
- We will all fulfill purpose and will not die Debtors in Jesus Name. AMEN!
