Key Passage: Matthew 4
There are many serious themes in the book of Matthew 4, so numerous are they, that we can swim in the deep end of it’s many clear revelations. The temptations of Jesus are insights into the temptations of us all. The ministry of Jesus is a template for ours – He preached, chose disciples and served, our lives must express the same.
Jesus echoed some powerful often overlooked words as he ventured into God’s will – discipleship. He said, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” This was Jesus’ first word to his disciples, and it sounds like his last words too. If you follow Jesus, you will fish for men. If you think you have been following Jesus for however long, if there is no one following you, who you are following is doubtful.
The proof that we are following Jesus is disciples – Basic!
- Am I following Christ the way I visualize others should follow me? I should
- Am I being followed as passionately as I am following Christ? I should be.
- Our lives should are characterized by Discipleship – Teaching, Influencing and serving others.
What would Jesus do?
It is clear that Jesus ministry is about people, loving them, helping them and serving them. I must make this the goal of my life too.
Commitments and Prayers
Dear God ,grant me the grace to bear fruit – of Character and of disciples. Let my life have evidence that I am following you. I receive fresh grace and outpouring of your spirit to be a witness for Jesus.
