Where are you? Can you really locate yourself in God’s will and agenda on earth? These are questions in mind as I put this article together. It is my prayer that it will give you better understanding of what the Bible has to say about God’s will on earth.
Welcome on board as we journey in the book of Genesis, the first book of Moses. The first remarkable question that God asked the Mankind was a question of location, “Where Are You?” Genesis 3:9.
You will agree with me that this is a common question that every person in a relationship ask every day, if you listen to telephone conversation of one to three people who are really in love. Where are you would never miss in their words, this show how God loves mankind. God created beautiful creatures and put everything in care of man to keep and rule over them.
And the Lord God commanded the man to have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth, “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.” Genesis 2:17
The one important thing God wants to establish in this short story is FELLOWSHIP.
Fellowship is a very important pivotal wheel of unity and growth, be it in relationship or in the church, and it role in church cannot be underestimated.
It should be noted that one of the challenges of fellowship is offence. Offence breaks friendship; offence breaks relationship, retards growth and grieves the Holy Spirit. Offence in a common word is called SIN. Bible recorded that man sinned in the third chapter of the first book when Adam and Eve violated the code of relationship it called for the question, Where are you? Definitely God knew that they were in the Garden of Eden but which side are they? This question reminds me of a song we used to sing while growing.
“Who is on the Lord side? I want to know, I am on the Lord side, I am on the Lord side for the Lord God is on my side, as long as live, as long as live, I am on the Lord side.”
As a Christian are you on the Lord side and how many people have put on God side?
Sin disconnects man from God and the wages of sin is death, we cannot continue in sin and expect his grace to abound. The Bible says certainly not! Romans 6:2
In this story, let us point out five reasons that causes the down fall of man and lessons to learn from it;
1) Bad company
2) Wrong advice
3) Lust of the eyes
4) Disobedient
5) Flesh
Who are your friends and companions? In summary, bad company corrupt good manners, Eve was in a bad company with Satan called serpent, she thought it is just a companion but companionship with the world is enmity to God. “He who walks with wise man will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed”. Proverb 13: 20
Who is your adviser? Plans are established by counsel; by wise counsel wage war. Proverbs 20:18, Proverbs 27:9
What is your ambition? Lust of the eyes is another sin that made man fell. Nowadays everything that is pleasant to our eyes, we want to have without considering whether it is good for us or not. Immediately after the wrong advice, Eve saw that the tree is good for food, pleasant to the eyes and also desirable to make one wise, she took out of the fruit and ate because of her selfish ambitions. As Christians until you come into agreement that God’s services is your ambition on earth, you will not stop falling into the trap and pit of the devil.
Do you keep the word of God in your heart? There is no fear of God in their heart; the psalmist says “Your word I have hidden in my heart that I may not sin against you. Psalm 119: 11” Jesus said that man shall not live by bread alone, but every word of God. Proverbs 7:2, John 14:23.
Do you have the Spirit of God? The Lord Jesus Christ: the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. In order overcome the lust of flesh the apostle Paul teaches us in his letter to the Galatians, how to walk in the Spirit against the lust of the flesh.
The bible clearly teaches the sovereignty of God, it also clearly teaches the free will of man. Man has right of association and if you don’t know what life is all about you can’t make something good out of it.
You know, there’s a huge difference between talking about something wonderful and experiencing that wonderful thing for yourself. We could talk all day about the joys of being united to Christ or about the freedom you will find in him, but until you make the trip yourself it will only be a report.
Don’t settle for reports! Experience Christ for yourself!
You are made for a glorious relationship with King Jesus, and only when you are rooted, growing and established in him will you truly enjoy all that life has to offer.
Do you want fulfillment? Then abide in God!
Do you want perfect peace? Then stick with Jesus!
Do you want to be wise and healthy? Then stick with Holy Spirit!
It’s the only way to develop an everlasting relationship with God!
God bless you real good is my prayer. (Shalom)
